Our History

Beta Psi 1923 Foundation:

A Legacy of Service, Giving, and Impact

Since 2016, the Beta Psi 1923 Foundation has been a driving force in advancing education, philanthropy, and legacy-building within the Clark Atlanta University community and beyond. Established that year to uplift students and support the university’s mission, the Foundation quickly distinguished itself through bold vision and decisive action. In 2018, it launched an ambitious campaign to contribute $100,000 to Clark Atlanta University within five years—a goal that was remarkably achieved in just two years. That same year, Antonio Knox, the 40th Grand Basileus of

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., presented a $10,000 gift to help establish the Dr. Moses C. Norman Sr. Endowment. In December 2019, following the passing of Dr. Gideon K. Mincey, the Foundation honored his legacy by creating the Gideon K. Mincey Biology Scholarship. Since its inception, more than $60,000 has been raised to support biology scholars, and the first recipient has since graduated from the Morehouse School of Medicine.

In 2021, the Foundation launched the CAU Unity Brick Campaign, uniting alumni and friends through a shared act of remembrance and pride. More than 1,300 bricks were purchased by supporters from 218 cities, 36 states, and five countries, raising $125,000 and transforming the campus plaza into a patchwork quilt of memories. At the plaza unveiling, Dr. David Marion, the 41st Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., presented an additional $10,000 contribution to the Dr. Moses C. Norman Sr. Endowment on behalf of the Fraternity.

The Foundation’s impact continued to expand in 2022 when its Board of Directors successfully lobbied Omega Psi Phi Fraternity to allocate a portion of registration fees from the Dr. Moses C. Norman Sr. International Leadership Conference to the CAU endowment. This allocation was formally adopted into policy at the 84th Conclave in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2023, the Foundation hosted a spectacular gala celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Beta Psi Chapter, raising more than $200,000 and pledging an extraordinary $1 million to Clark Atlanta University. Building on that momentum, in 2025, Grand Basileus Ricky Lewis and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity contributed an additional $20,000 to the Dr. Moses C. Norman Sr. Endowment, pushing it beyond the half-million-dollar mark and bringing the total raised to more than $600,000.

The Beta Psi 1923 Foundation’s journey of service and impact is possible because of you. Through the generosity of fraternity members, alumni, friends, and partners, ambitious dreams have become lasting realities. Thank you for believing in the mission and for helping to strengthen the enduring legacy of Clark Atlanta University—a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
